The Fifth Biannual Conservation Conference

Since 2010, NatureUganda has been organising a bi-annual conservation Conference with the aim of bringing together conservation practitioners in Uganda to share information about conservation work.

This year 2019, Nature Uganda held the fifth bi-annual conference under the theme "Harmonious living between Wildlife and people." At the Uganda Museum in partnership with the MTWA, WCS, WWF, BMCT, Wild Animal Protection, UWEC, Chimpanzee Trust, Wildlife clubs of Uganda including other partners

The aims of the conference included;

  • To provide space for a diverse range of leading stakeholders (governmental and non-governmental) to voice their expert opinions, proposals, analysis and aspirations for the implementation of conservation projects in the face of climate change.
  • To understand how conservationists have engaged the youth in implementation of conservation projects.
  • To understand how much conservationists have used IT/social media in advancing the conservation agenda in the country

The insights and analysis presented in this conference provided a critical cornerstone for implementing conservation projects in the country especially in the era of climate change, youth participation and the immense opportunity that technology has presented us with through the use of social media to reach out to communities and people. The conference brought together players and lead agencies in the conservation arena to define priority areas and made recommendations for future conservation and research priorities in Uganda.
