The observatory is a watchtower strategically positioned to oversee Nabajjuzi wetland. It’s located at the Masaka-Mbarara road bypass and the road to and from Masaka Town. It’s well equipped with a full time guide to receive and guide visitors through the wetland, has equipment like Binoculars, the Telescope and Guidebooks to help in the nature walk. The wetland is home to the Sitatunga not forgetting the endangered Shoebill to mention but a few. This observatory is the only known environmentally friendly rest place on Kampala-Mbarara road, fully equipped with refreshments and hand crafts made by the surrounding local communities. It was constructed by NatureUganda with support from Masaka Municipal Council, The RSPB, UTB and Whitley Fund for Nature.
