SUMMARY:Public Talk on High-Integrity Nature Markets
DESCRIPTION:NatureUganda in collaboration with Plan Vivo Foundation will host a public dialogue on 6 August 2026 to discuss “Plan Vivo Standards: Shaping Nature Markets to Achieve High-Integrity Nature-Positive Outcomes.” \nThe event will be held physically at Hotel Africana\, Kampala and virtually via Zoom\, starting at 2:00pm\, bringing together conservation practitioners\, government representatives\, civil society organisations\, researchers\, and members of the public from across East Africa and beyond. \nThe dialogue aims to raise awareness of the two Plan Vivo Standards: \n\nPV Nature – The Biodiversity Standard\nPV Climate – The Carbon Standard\n\nParticipants will gain insights into the requirements\, methodologies\, and certification pathways of the standards\, while exploring how community-centred conservation projects can access emerging biodiversity and carbon markets. \nAs global interest in nature-positive investments grows\, there is increasing demand for standards that deliver credible environmental outcomes while ensuring that local communities benefit directly from conservation efforts. \nThe Plan Vivo Standards are widely recognised among the highest-integrity standards for community-based conservation and climate projects worldwide. The public talk will examine how these standards incentivise and empower Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities to conserve and restore biodiversity while generating tangible benefits for people\, nature\, and the climate. \nDiscussions will also compare lessons from the established carbon credit market with opportunities emerging in the biodiversity credit market\, helping participants understand the evolving landscape of nature finance. \nThe event will showcase practical examples from successful Plan Vivo Climate projects across Africa\, as well as emerging PV Nature pipeline projects that demonstrate how high-integrity nature markets can support grassroots conservation initiatives. \nFollow the link to register your participation: https://forms.gle/W2eFCvSHsJoQKTUH7  \n
