Uganda will once again join the global community to commemorate World Wetlands Day on 2nd February 2026 under the theme “Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating Cultural Heritage,” with the slogan “Conserve Wetlands; Protect Our Heritage. Wetlands are not only sources of livelihood and ecological sustenance, but also sacred spaces that embody ancestral wisdom, customary practices, and indigenous values passed down through generations.
In this regard, NatureUganda in partnership with the Ministry of Water and Environment has organized a public talk on Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge: Conserving Cultural Heritage for Sustainable Futures. This talk aims to integrate the global and national priorities under the themes, fostering awareness and collaboration for conservation efforts in line with Uganda’s national policies and international commitments.
